Materials:

  • Size 10 crochet thread
  • Crochet hook size 6 or size needed for gauge
  • 1 yard of 1/4” satin ribbon
  • Yarn needle
  • Optional: ribbon roses

Round scented soap (about 3” in diameter and 1" thick)

(or you can substitute a potpourri-filled round sachet)

Gauge: Rounds 1-3 = 1 3/4”

Front

Ch 6; join with a sl st to form ring

Round 1: Ch 5 to count as the first trc and the first ch 1, (trc, ch 1) 17 times in the ring; join with a sl st to the 4th ch of the beginning ch 5. (18 trc)

Round 2: Sl st into the first ch 1 sp, ch 1, sc in the same sp, (ch 3, sc in the next ch 1 sp) 17 times, ch 3, join with a sl st to the first sc. (18 ch 3 spaces)

Round 3: (Cluster round) Attach color C with a sl st in any ch 1 sp, ch 2 (yo, insert hook in same sp, yo pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook)

twice, yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook, ch 3; *yo, insert hook in next sp, yo pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook, (yo, insert hook in same sp, yo pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook) 2 times, yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook, ch 3* Repeat from * to * 16 times; join with a sl st to the top of the first cluster. (18 clusters)

Round 4: Sl st into the first ch 3 sp, ch 1, sc in the same sp, (ch 4, sc in the next ch 3 sp) 17 times, ch 2, join with a hdc to the first sc to form the last ch 4 sp. (18 ch 4 spaces)

Round 5: Ch 1, sc in the same sp, (ch 5, sc in the next ch 4 sp) 17 times, ch 2, join with a dc to the first sc to form the last ch 5 sp. (18 ch 5 spaces)

Rounds 6-7: Ch 1, sc in the same sp, (ch 5, sc in the next ch 5 sp) 17 times, ch 2, join with a dc to the first sc to form the last ch 5 sp. (18 ch 5 spaces)

Round 8: (Beading round) Ch 5 to count as the first dc and the first ch 2,

(dc in the next sc, ch 2, dc in the next ch 5 sp, ch 2) 17 times, ch 2, dc in the next sc, ch 2, join with a sl st to the 3rd ch of the beginning ch 3. (36 ch spaces)

Round 9: (Ruffle) Sl st into the first ch 2 sp, ch 6, sc in the 4th ch from hook, (dc, ch 3, sc in the top of the dc) 2 times in the same in the same space, (dc, ch 3, sc in the top of the dc) 3 times in each remaining ch 2 space around; join with a sl st to the 3rd ch of the beginning ch 5. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Back

Work the same as the front through round 8. Fasten off after round 8.

Weave in ends.

Finishing

Thread yarn needle with ribbon. With wrong sides together, weave ribbon through the beading round of both pieces until the two pieces are joined halfway around; insert soap or sachet; continue weaving ribbon through beading round to close. Tie ribbon ends in a bow. Add a ribbon loop to the top for hanging. You can embellish with satin roses as desired.
