  • Omega La Espiga size 24 nylon cord (150 yds per roll):
  • 3 rolls #27 wine
  • Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker
  • 1 1/4-inch button

GAUGE

14 dc = 4 inches; rnd 1 and 2 = 2 1/2 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Do not join rounds unless otherwise stated. Use stitch marker to mark beginning of rounds and move up as each round is completed.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCH

Single crochet join (sc join): Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and draw up a lp, yo and pull through both lps on hook.

Rnd 3: [Dc in each of next 23 dc, 2 dc in each of next 6 dc] twice. (70 dc)

Rnd 4: Dc in each of next 25 dc, 2 dc in each of next 9 dc, dc in each of next 26 dc, 2 dc in each of next 9 dc, dc in next dc. (88 dc)

Rnd 5: Dc in each of next 26 dc, * [2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc] 8 times*, dc in each of next 28 dc, rep between * once, dc in each of next 2 dc. (104 dc)

STRAP

Rnd 1: Ch 110, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch, working on opposite side of foundation ch, sk first ch, sc in each ch across to last ch, 2 sc in last ch, place marker. (220 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each of first 2 sc, sc in each of next 105 sc, 2 sc in each of next 5 sc, sc in each st across to last 3 sc, 2 sc in each of last 3 sc, join in beg sc. Fasten off.

Sew ends of Strap to WS of Tote at pleats.

BUTTON LP

Getting started: Place marker on center st at top back edge of Tote.

Row 1: With RS facing, sc join (see Special Stitch) in st before marked st, sc in each of next 2 sc, turn. (3 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 12, join in last sc. Fasten off.

Sew button to center front of Tote.
