Crown: Rnds 1-5 = 3 1/2 inches
Brim: 7 sc and 7 dc = 4 inches; 14 rows = 4 inches

Crown
Rnd 1: With smoke, ch 3, 10 hdc in first ch, do not join (see Pattern Notes), place marker (see Pattern Notes). (10 hdc)

Rows 3-73: Rep row 2. Leaving long end for sewing, fasten off at end of last row.
With RS tog, using long end, sew row 1 to row 73 on WS.
With RS tog, pin side edge of Brim to rnd 13 of Crown. With WS facing and working through both thicknesses, join (see Pattern Notes) smoke in seam, evenly si st around to join Brim to Crown. Fasten off.
Cuff
Getting started: With WS facing and working in row ends, join salt water at back seam of Brim, 72 sc evenly along edge of Brim, turn.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in first st, [dc in next st, sc in next st] around to last st, dc in last st, turn. (36 sc, 36 dc)
Rows 2-8: Rep row 1. Leaving long end for sewing, fasten off at end of last row. (36 sc, 36 dc)
Using long end, sew seam at back.
Edging
Rnd 1: With RS facing, join salt water in any st on Cuff, reverse st (see Stitch Guide) in each st around, join in first st. Fasten off.
