Crochet Tropical Flower

Materials Used:
Worsted weight yarn
Size G/6 (4.25mm) crochet hook
Size/Gauge:
Gauge is not important to this project, so you can use any size hook, or yarn weight you like! Finished models measure 2.5"-3" across.
Stitches Used/Abbreviations:
Ch-chain
Rnd-round
Hdc-half double crochet
Sl st-slip stitch
Totally Tropical Flower:
Rnd 1: ch 5. Join to 1st ch, to form a ring.
Rnd 2: *ch 4. Sl st in ring*. Repeat (*) 4 more times, for a total of 5 loops.
Rnd 3: *ch 1. Work 4 hdc in next loop. Ch 2. Work 4 more hdc in same loop. Sl st in same loop*. Repeat (*) for each loop. Fasten off after 5th loop.
For Two-Toned Flower:
After rnd 3, join a contrasting color. *Work 2 sc in each st up side of petal. Work {1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc} in ch 2 space. Work 2 sc in each st down side of petal. Sl st in ch 1 space between petals*. Repeat (*) around. Join. Fasten off.
Stamen: (Make 1 for each flower)
Using a contrasting color, leave a tail, and ch 5. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, and each remaining ch. Fasten off, leaving a tail for tying to center of flower.
Place one tail each, into 2 opposite loops, and tie securely in the back. Arrange the petals of your flower, by slightly overlapping each petal.
Leaves: (Make desired number)
Ch 12. Work 4 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 2. Work 4 more hdc in same ch. Sl st in same ch. Sl st in each of the next 9 chs. In last ch, work 4 hdc. Ch 2. Work 4 more hdc in same ch. Sl st in same ch. Fasten off.
Assembly:
Lay leaves on top of project, in desired layout (straight, bent, etc…) Stitch in place. Lay flower on top of stem section of leaves, and stitch in place.
